Relief for Mallya as GMR withdraws cheque bounce case

The Press Trust of India (PTI) has reported that GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) on Wednesday withdrew a cheque bounce case filed against Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) in a court in Hyderabad after the airline agreed to pay the outstanding amount due to it.

A Hyderabad court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Mallya, KFA and four other executives last Friday after the Sahara Force India owner and team principal failed to appear in court to settle the matter of dishonouring cheques worth 10.5 crore rupees (approx. 1.9 million dollars).

Getting a court to issue a warrant seems like one hell of a way to get the attention of someone who owes you money.
